When Mother Nature calls over Massachusetts way, it's the Berkshires, a rugged mountain range stretching across the western edge of the state, that pick up, a place popular with outdoorsy types for the abundance of trails on offer and the arts-oriented for the local selection of cultural attractions.
A historic 18th-century barn was saved from destruction by generous donors and moved to a site in historic Hadley where it now sees service as the Hadley Farm Museum, a facility with an extensive assortment of antique farm tools and equipment as its focus. Venture from the big tool section in the cellar (featuring plows and the like) up past old wagons and sleighs on the first floor to get a glimpse of everything from traps to broom-making machines on the upper floor and niddy-noldies in the space under the rafters.
