Acclaimed author and Pulitzer-prize winner, Edith Wharton, designed the elegant window-edged house and carefully cultivated gardens that continue to grace The Mount Estate to this day, though she herself only lived there for a decade in the early 20th-century. Visitors to this picturesque spot can enjoy a leisurely tour of the Italian-style gardens and the house (much of it conscientiously restored) for a glimpse of this leading lady's life - and design ideals -while in residence.
